Reading Dietrich Bonheoffer’s The Cost of Discipleship and I am struck with the magnitude of horror that was experienced by so many thinkers and artists during WWII; and the subsequent outpouring within their work. Bonheoffer’s writings and poetry offer a great insight.

the beautiful weeds

So why should weeds be beautiful? Perhaps because they bring us back to earth, provide us with honest labor in ‘weeding’ and trimming, and when they are properly tended enable us to enjoy the magnificently beautiful, or delicious; depending on the other plants one has planted in the garden.
