Here is a beautiful little vignette of a duck in inlaid malachite, marble and other semi-precious stones. It is one of several pietre dure pieces in the decorative rooms of the Louvre, Paris. The artisan has captured so well the movement here, the detail of feathers shaking themselves dry, as also the movement in the river scene behind.
