koralie : emanessence

Yesterday saw the final day of the latest exhibition of work by the artist who calls herself Koralie. Her latest exhibition in Paris, Emanessence, explores what emanates from her character’s hearts. What are each of their scents? What is your favorite assortment? Because now you can not only see your favorite Koralie character, but can also smell her favorite scent at the pic and sniff counter.

Koralie’s print work draws on both traditional paper screen methods and high quality digital Handmade “Giclées” prints using 4 colors on Arches 285 paper. Other works in the Marias exhibition at Gallerie L.J. included the extrapolation of Koralie’s characters into their own 3D paper dolls, each with accompanying scent. The gallery website has more of the images from the show online.

This street/graphic/surface pattern/digital/installation artist, who trained as an architect, now explores the lives of little characters inspired by Japanese culture. Her own life is an adventure in experimentation which has also led to developing a joint clothing line with husband and fellow artist Supakitch. They call it Metroplastic, and true to it’s name it is a label that reflects the two vagabond’s love of street culture and lively beings. More recently the French pair have relocated to Brooklyn NY from Paris, where they are blazing a trail both online and around the traps. Editorial has followed them too, including an in depth article by GraffitiArt Magazine, France who featured the duo’s work on it’s January 2009 cover.
